Ducati found a new set-up this weekend that propelled Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden to podium finishes at the Aragon circuit in Spain. Stoner went from pole to take a decisive win ahead of second place Dani Pedrosa (Honda) and third place Hayden. Series points leader Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) finished off the podium for the first time this year in fourth position.
Lorenzo still has a very large points lead in the championship series. For additional details, results and points visit the official MotoGP site.
Jorge did not appear pleased after “cruising” to 4th place. I don’t know how much of Ducati’s weekend is down to something new though. Stoner was on ’09 forks, while Hayden was on ’10. Perhaps the new track played a role. The bright side is that we finally had a race worth watching from start to finish. The Spies/Dovi fight was fantastic. The Hayden pass on Lorenzo was a (the?) highlight of Nick’s season.
I think Ducati’s new setup is called “Jorge just needs to cruise to the championship now”.
Good one Noam!
