The opening round of the WSB series was held in Australia earlier this weekend, and Carlos Checa (Ducati) was able to win both races, while defending champ Max Biaggi (Aprilia) finished second in both races. Leon Haslam (BMW) rounded out the podium in race 1, while former MotoGP star Marco Melandri (Yamaha) finished third in race 2.

doubling at the season opener. epic.

Checa’s team is non-factory but his 1198 is the latest weapon offered by Ducati so by no means its a non-factory bike. The technical support he got from Ducati is still top draw.
Looks like this is gonna be a Checa-Ducati vs every 1 else season.
Concur with joe2d. Ducati’s thinly veiled attempt at allowing the public to believe they are going balls to walls with their MotoGP effort only, is for the uninitiated to the business end of selling motorcycles. Make no mistake, Checa is receiving (informally) all that Ducati had to offer. BTW- Carlos’ mount is a 1098R.
I like how Melandri rode the YZF-R1.
Looked very good.
I am very happy to see how well young Leon Haslam has done in his first racing outing for BMW. Hope he keeps on improving.
It was great to see a non-factory team sweep the top spot with one of my favourite riders.
