Jimmy Button’s M4M Cross Country Ride: Week 1 Update

Scottsdale, AZ (March 4, 2011)–Jimmy Button and the Miles 4 Miracles crew have completed week one of their journey across the country that began February 20th at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA and will end in Daytona Beach, Florida. Having just entered New Mexico and completing week one of his journey, we had a chance to catch up with Jimmy and get his take on his first week on the road.

“In total we have ridden 655 miles. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but at the same time it is so much fun. You look every day at how much you have traveled and what you have got to see, the photos we have taken and the signs we have stopped in front of; it is just so cool.”

“We have ridden through the mountains and the desert, through 89 degree weather, rain, hail and snow. We rode through a sand storm the other day where we could only see 50 feet in front of us. We have experienced nearly every possible type of weather.”

“We have had really old people with us and have had young people with us too. We had one lady who was riding a hand cycle wheelchair. We met a 50 year old motorcycle rider who was headed west and was hurt in a motorcycle accident and has been through a lot of major surgeries.  He told us this is his last ride on a motorcycle and he is riding from Jacksonville, Florida to Los Angeles before he isn’t able to anymore. It is crazy at how many people we have had the opportunity to meet who we would never, ever get to meet in our everyday lives. It has been a great experience so far.”

Jimmy’s goal is to raise $1 Million dollars for spinal cord research. No donation is too big or small. Please help spread the word so Jimmy can reach his goal. Together we can make a difference in the life of a spinal cord injury patient. This injury is tough to live with, not only for the injured person, but their family and friends as well.
