As we reach the halfway point in nearly every off-road racing series, it is the Factory FMF/KTM Team riders that are leading the points chase and inching one step closer to multiple championship titles.
Now eight rounds into the AMA National Hare & Hound Series, team rider Kurt Caselli has a 28 point lead over the next closest competitor. Caselli recently wrapped up his fifth win last weekend and with any luck will wrap up the Championship title when the riders return to racing action this October.
Not only is Caselli performing exceptionally well in the Hare & Hound Series but he is also tied for the points lead in the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS). Caselli is tied with Bobby Garrison for the top spot in the series. Caselli attributes his points lead to his overall consistency. “Although I haven’t won every round this season, I have only missed the podium at one race and that is going to be key to defending my #1 plate,” remarked the 2-time WORCS Champion. Not far outside the top three, is Caselli’s teammate, Mike Brown, who is currently sitting 4th in the overall standings.
Switching over to the East coast, it is the reigning National Enduro Champion Charlie Mullins who is turning heads. Mullins took a win at the Train Robber National Enduro last weekend to take the top step in the point standings from his FMF/KTM teammate and 3-time National Enduro Champion Russell Bobbitt.
In addition to Mullins hold on the National Enduro Series he is also the man to beat in the GNCC Series. With two wins under his belt he leads the series over his closest competitor Josh Strang. His FMF/KTM teammates Cory Buttrick and Kailub Russell are 4th and 6th respectively in the point standings.
