Toyota Trucks Thunder Valley National
Thunder Valley MX Park – Lakewood, Colo. – June 25
- The mile high altitude at Thunder Valley is a unique element of this national. It will provide an additional challenge for mechanics in making a bike perform at its peak, while riders must physically adjust to the thinner air.
- Thunder Valley was the first and only professional motocross event to ever be held under the lights for 2008 and 2009. The venue also hosted the Motocross of Nations last season.
- Both of veteran rider Ivan Tedesco’s inaugural 250 and 450 Class victories came at Thunder Valley, which he considered to be his home race.
- Chad Reed is undefeated in second motos this season. Two of his three overall wins this summer have come by virtue of a tiebreaker.
- With his runner-up finish at Budds Creek, Ryan Villopoto has finished on the podium in five of his six career starts.
- Chad Reed now boasts nine career 450 Class wins, just one behind both Ryan Dungey and Kevin Windham.
- Reed is averaging better than a second-place finish this season (1.9).
- Tyla Rattray became the first 250 Class rider to sit atop the championship standings for consecutive weeks.
- Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki has won every 250 Class moto and overall of the 2011 season.
- Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto in the 450 Class, and Tyla Rattray in the 250 Class, remain the only riders to finish on the overall podium in all four rounds this season.
- Mike Alessi became the first 450 Class rider to garner multiple holeshots this season. He has also grabbed two holeshots in just four motos.
450 Class Stats
- The first Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship race was held at Thunder Valley on July 24, 2005. Ricky Carmichael won on a Suzuki.
- This will be only the seventh time the gate has dropped for the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Thunder Valley.
- Four different riders have won in six races at Thunder Valley.
- Ivan Tedesco is the only rider to win in both classes at Thunder Valley. Ryan Villopoto and Jake Weimer will look to achieve the same feat this weekend.
