Even if you cannot make it to Holland for the Assen TT next week Yamaha are prepared to bring you as close as possible to our Grand Prix 50th anniversary celebrations. We will be broadcasting a live webcast of the official presentation of the M1’s commemorative colour scheme with the participation of the full Yamaha MotoGP teams and also opening our special Yamaha Anniversary Expo that will launch at the oldest motorcycle meeting still on the Grand Prix calendar.
The show will begin at 18.00 (CET) on Wednesday 22nd of June and the event can be watched simply by visiting www.yamaha-racing.com and entering the MotoGP section of the website.
The ceremony – hosted by BBC MotoGP presenter Matthew Roberts – is no ordinary press occasion as world champion Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies will be taking the covers off their freshly painted race-bikes with the assistance of some revered guests, some important faces from the early days of Yamaha’s road racing history. An explanation will take place of the free-to-enter Yamaha Anniversary Expo that will be organised at hotel and event centre ’De Bonte Wever’ in Assen, just 2.5 km from the TT circuit from Thursday 23rd. The display will feature 14 classic GP machines as well as memorabilia, photos and videos outlining Yamaha’s grand prix story.
A select group of viewers that log-on during Wednesday 22nd at 18.00 will receive a unique anniversary gift.
“This year is very exciting because the anniversary signifies not only a landmark for Yamaha but also gives us plenty of ways in which we can show our heritage and get the public involved in our celebrations”, commented Yamaha Motor Europe Racing Marketing Manager Leon Oosterhof. “With this webcast we hope that many Yamaha fans at home will participate in the launch of our activities around Assen and for those coming to the GP we have some other great things going on like the anniversary livery, the Parade and the Expo. Our website will carry full coverage of what we are doing over the weekend and of course throughout the rest of a memorable 2011.”
