Rockstar Energy Southwick National

Moto-X 338 – Southwick, Mass. – August 27

  • Southwick serves as the only sand track in American Motocross.
  • The legendary facility has hosted an AMA Pro Motocross event since 1976.
  • The layout of Moto-X 338 is unique in that it allows for great viewing lines from nearly any portion of the track, thanks to its intimate configuration that features several out-and-backs.
  • Veteran, and local legend, John Dowd made history at Southwick in 2009 by becoming the oldest rider in history to finish on the podium. This weekend, he will continue his illustrious career at the age of 46.
  • Four different riders have secured the overall win in the 450 Class over the past four seasons, while the 250 Class hasn’t seen a repeat winner since Travis Pastrana in 2001.
  • Unadilla marked just the second time in 2011 that the championship points leader in both the 450 Class and 250 Class won on the same day.
  • Seven points separate Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey atop the 450 Class standings, with Chad Reed 25 points out of the lead.
  • Ryan Villopoto’s 450 Class win at Unadilla was just the 3rd of his career, putting him into a tie for 26th all-time.
  • With his second win of the season at Unadilla, Villopoto has finished on the podium in 10 of his 11 career starts.
  • Ryan Villopoto is the only rider in either class to finish on the overall podium at each round this season.
  • Justin Barcia has grabbed a holeshot in both the 450 Class and 250 Class in 2011.
  • After finishing runner-up in five of eight rounds this season, 250 Class points leader Dean Wilson broke through for his first win of the summer at Unadilla.
  • Wilson has the most points of any rider in the series across both classes, despite having the least amount of wins in either class. He also boasts the best finishing average in the series.
  • Blake Baggett boast a series-leading eight moto wins and five overall victories this season.
  • Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki has won every 250 Class moto and overall of the 2011 season.
