Ducati threw a big party at the top of a Hollywood hotel last Friday night to unveil the incredible 1199 Panigale to the Southern California press and glitterati, including yours truly. The bike is gorgeous in person (more so than in photos). It appeared so even after watching scantily clad, leggy models stroll up and down the runway during a Ducati fashion show that immediately preceded the bike’s Southern California debut. Below are two videos, including (1) a hand-held video I hastily took at the Hollywood event featuring Ducati NA General Manager Dominique Cheraki’s brief interview of Nicky Hayden, and (2) Ducati’s beautifully shot “Checkmate” tribute to the 1199 Panigale.

To borrow from the saw franchise, “Oh yes, there will be wood.”
I was worried he was going to knock one of those chess pieces under his tire.
Thanks for sharing Dirck! The hand held video was more than adequate. The sound was great; I felt like I was there. What did you shoot the video with?
I wasn’t planning to take a video, but I pulled out my iPhone 4 and shot this.. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality.
Cool, thanks. Good to know.
With my skills that bike would be wasted on me, but that second video sure was fun to watch. Wouldn’t it be great to get some track time on that course all by your lonesome?
Playing “chess” never looked so fun! And I’d be just as bad at this chess game than the real thing…;-) Good marketing. Great bike.
Wow! The marketing guys did a great job in that second video. The spot just throws all the stats, figures and technical crap out the window! It’s just boiled down to a fantastic looking, and sounding motorcyle that will blow the froth off your cappucino as it blows by you! They ought to play that commercial on mainstream sporting events, nice!
I REALLY agree! That spot didn’t have an obnoxious soundtrack, we got to hear the bike ridden in anger, they usually forget to turn the music down so we can hear the bike. But considering that most spots are with inline fours with EPA mufflers I don’t blame them for drowning the bike out of them. Ducs are such a feast of the senses, the eyes and the ears. This bike has too many features for me but I’ll have to start looking for a 10 or 1198, pre traction control.
Awesome. Love that second video. Does the Panigale come with a giant bag of riding skills so I can use it to its full potential? 8^)
Cool beans!
