Autographed Race Helmets from Leading Motocross Riders Benefit Research at Leading Children’s Hospitals
Seattle, WA. (Nov. 22, 2011) – Action sports icon Travis Pastrana, Motocross National Champions Ryan Dungey and Ashley Fiolek, and other leading Motocross and Supercross racers have joined forces once again for the 2011 MX for Children ‘Helmets for Hydro’ charity auction. Funds raised from this 2nd annual auction benefit hydrocephalus research at leading Children’s Hospitals including: Toronto’s SickKids, Seattle Children’s, Utah’s Primary Children’s, Children’s Hospital of Alabama, St. Louis Children’s, Pittsburgh Children’s and Houston’s Texas Children’s Hospital. The auction begins on November 22, 2011 on eBay.
“For the second year in a row I am joining up with MX for Children for their Helmets for Hydro auction. I’m proud to be able to donate one of my THOR race helmets” said Brett Metcalfe, Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Rider. “As racers, it is important to give back to our communities and for me it’s honorable and meaningful to help kids in need”. Hydrocephalus — the #1 cause of brain surgery in kids and affects one million people in the United States. Leading motocross riders such as Davi Millsaps, Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac, and Andrew Short, and others have personally signed and donated their race helmets from this past season to this year’s auction.
MX for Children is a group of volunteers that organize fundraising events and unique experiences around the sport of Motocross and Supercross benefiting research at children’s hospitals around North America. In addition to this annual auction, MX for Children runs local MX ride events and the Inside Line Experience pledge drive in conjunction with Supercross. All events provide a way for people who love the sport of motocross to give back to their community in a significant way.
