New Yamaha Factory Recruit Beaubier Fractures Leg While Training

Cypress, CA, December 28, 2011 – Christmas Eve was an especially eventful one for Cameron Beaubier, one of Yamaha’s new full-factory road racing team members – and not for the right reasons. On December 24, Cameron took a spill while training on his motocross bike near his home in Marysville, CA, and he fractured the tibia on his left leg.

Dr. Hardwood at the National Surgery Center in Los Gatos, CA, plated the tibia and was pleased with how the surgery went. The doctor expects Cameron to be able to resume his off-season conditioning and training program in three to four weeks.

Cameron is being released from the hospital today. Other than being disappointed with this temporary setback in preparing for the Daytona 200 and the entire 2012 AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike season, Cameron is in good spirits, motivated as always, and he’s looking forward to racing his Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6® in this, his factory rookie season.

Commenting on the situation, Keith McCarty, Motorsports Racing Division Manager for Yamaha said, “Our best wishes go out to Cameron. We hate to hear about any rider getting injured, and our thoughts are with him. Cameron is proof that there’s no off-season in motorcycle racing, and he was on the gas and training hard for his debut in the Daytona 200 aboard the Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha R6. We wish him well and hope to see him back to 100% soon.”
