Round 2 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series was held last evening in Phoenix, and Ryan Dungey came away with KTM’s first ever win in the Supercross class. Filling out the podium behind Dungey were a pair of Kawasaki riders, Jake Weimer in second and last week’s winner Ryan Villopoto in third. Dungey and Villopoto are tied for the points lead in the series after two rounds.
Past champions Chad Reed (Honda) and James Stewart (Yamaha) finished in 5th and 8th position, respectively.

The smart money is on Villapoto. Last place to third, that took some serious commitment. He is in it to win it this year, unlike James. I would love to see a real battle with Dungey and Reed this year, that would be fun to watch.
As much of a fan of James Stewart I once was, he is not just a shell of his former self. Not only is he not competitive but now he can’t even finish a race without crashing. He’s got Damon Bradshaw disease. I think it’s time for him to hang up his boots and move to NASCAR.
It was great to see Dungey give KTM their first SX win, hopefully there will be more to follow.
Coming from last place to third, what a pushover! sarc/off
RV wasn’t very tough to beat in Phoenix…
Good stuff. Hopefully a safe season for all but barring injury Villopoto looks to be tough to beat.
