PICKERINGTON, Ohio — In advance of this year’s American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) International Women & Motorcycling Conference, the host city of Carson City, Nev., has proclaimed the week of July 23-29, 2012, as AMA International Women & Motorcycling Week.
The proclamation recognizes the passion and dedication of the women motorcyclists who will attend the AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, July 26-29, and notes that the residents and businesses of Carson City and the surrounding area wholeheartedly welcome the attendees of the event.
“Carson City is proud to host the AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference,” said Mayor Robert Crowell, who will read the proclamation at the July 19 meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors. Echoing the conference theme of Ride Well, Crowell said, “Our community is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, and welcomes the AMA’s focus this year on women’s health and fitness issues.”
AMA Marketing Manager Tigra Tsujikawa, who will be present for the reading of the proclamation, said the city’s recognition signifies the growing role of women in motorcycling.
“With women riders becoming one of the fastest-growing segments of the motorcycling community, we are thrilled that Mayor Crowell and Carson City have issued this proclamation, and that the members of this community are extending such a warm welcome to our conference participants,” Tsujikawa said.
Tsujikawa encouraged all motorcycle enthusiasts to attend as AMA members, whether they are pilots or passengers. “It’s such a great community of motorcyclists, and to know that you are part of an association of 225,000 like-minded riders means we really have a voice about the future of the motorcycling lifestyle,” she said.
The AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference is the premier event for women who love to ride. Taking place July 26-29 in Carson City, Nev., the 2012 conference will showcase inspirational speakers, great roads, demo rides, product displays and unmatched camaraderie. The conference theme, Ride Well, focuses on rider preparation, safety, fitness and health.
Early registration is available exclusively to AMA members for $125, a $50 savings, through April 30, 2012. Click here to register, or get more details about the conference at AmericanMotorcyclist.com > Events > WomenandMotorcycling.
