Ducati is teaming up with the highly respected, and very capable Belgian-based Team Alstare next year as it debuts the race version of the 1199 Panigale known as the RS13. In the first video below, you will see Carlos Checa (No. 7), the 2011 WSB champ, testing the new Panigale with his teammate, Ayrton Badovini. There are also shots of Troy Bayliss testing the machine earlier this year at Mugello. The sound of this 1199cc v-twin is amazing! The sound is reason enough to watch the video.
The second video features F1 legend Michael Schumacher during a track day at Paul Ricard with John McGuinness (Isle of Man TT hero), Randy Mamola (retired MotoGP great), Pol Espargaro (runner-up in the 2012 Moto2 championship) and Keith Flint (English rocker and endurance racer). What I find most interesting in this video is the skill and daring of the very wealthy Michael Schumacher, who has nothing left to prove in motorsport, yet has taken to motorcycle riding and racing (and crashing) with great passion. He is the one seen pulling wheelies on the grey bike down the Paul Ricard straight.
Whats wrong with tats, hair and the like. First off this is riding moto’s, not a dinner formal second he’s the singer of band that pretty gritty music. Looked like a good time… lucky to have a track day with that crew.
What’s up with the tattoo’s, sideways caps, piercings, etc? No class. Imagine Agostini or Hailwood looking this foolish! Good racers, just, well, no class………..

…yet still suffers from an adrenaline addiction. 🙂
Pretty cool. Those celebrities in race bykes
Sounded raspy, could just be the old iPhone. I’ve seen the 1199 pang up close, lots of GP tech in it, I’ll bet the farm it’ll be competitive in GP and WSB as long as the electronics kit are in order. Power management will be key, keep it smooth and don’t thrash tires like the Kawasaki.
Side note: notice the right hand steer? They were ricin in the UK, not the best place to go fast with a cold track!
They were racing at Paul Ricard … which is in the south of France. The van came from the UK.
Music by Rival Sons – “Pressure and Time”
Actually, I thought Schumie looked kinda slow. Meh.
But what is the music? Really diggin that.
I don’t recall how he did… But Schumacher raced in the German Superbike series for a year or two… 2008, and maybe 2009… I don’t recall.
