Spanish riders swept the podium at Catalunya earlier today, with Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) taking a decisive win. Behind him, Honda teammates Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez fought over second place, with Pedrosa nipping Marquez at the line. A crash by Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha) on lap 6 opened the door for Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) to finish fourth.
Pedrosa continues to lead the championship points. For additional details, results and points, visit the official MotoGP site.
actually I enjoyed the race, wondering if Lorenzo was waiting to pull the pin? Or if Pedrosa was studying and waiting for the right moment. It would have been really interesting if Marquez didn’t have that “moment” on the 2nd to last lap. The biggest sigh of relief I’m sure to everyone there was the near-repeat of Bautista/Rossi on the first lap/turn 10. Gresini needs a new rider next year…
re: “Gresini needs a new rider next year,”
dorna needs to hand out the penalty like they should’ve done back at mugello.
I second that motion…
They are so light handed with Dorna, that I wonder if they would have penalized him at all, even if he had taken out Rossi.
ah, cry me a river
Dreamer. Rossi was just as at fault at Mugello.
I like what Dovisioso said over on MotoGP.com …something to the effect that “ducati has to improve everything “. Lol What did he expect? Rossi tried to get Ducati to improve everything for 2 years.
Good to see Suzuki testing at Barcelona.
A close call for Marquez almost losing the bike in one of the last laps, I think he is risking more than he needs to…
I fast forwarded through most of that race…eh
Lorenzo..what a rider. No drama, just smooth efficiency. He doesn’t even look like he’s working at it. Can’t believe 2 races in a row Dani gets the hole shot and lets Lorenzo past. Marquez is going to take out the whole Honda team one of these weeks. The slow mo shots were outstanding. Especially the drifting shots and the distance between Pedros back wheel and Marquez’s front wheel. Crazy when you realize the speeds they are running. The rest of the race was a crash fest. Stay upright and even back markers have their highest finishes. I see Crutchlow is back to his old ways…run fast, crash hard. The boy needs to learn to stay upright.
It’s his first crash this season?
