Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing
Series Statistical Report
Red Bull Lake Elsinore National
Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park – Lake Elsinore, Calif. – August 24
- Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park will host the final round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship for the second straight year.
- This year’s national takes place two weeks earlier than the previous year, wrapping up the 12-race championship in August, instead of September.
- Lake Elsinore has a strong legacy in the sport, serving as the site of the iconic film On Any Sunday.
- After shutting its doors in mid-2010, the track reopened in November 2011 as Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park and now serves as a state-of-the-art facility for all types of off-road competition, both two- and four-wheeled.
- Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park is located within the heart of the motocross industry in Southern California, mere minutes from many team headquarters and riders’ homes.
- Last round, Ryan Villopoto became the 11th multi-time champion in the 450 Class after securing the 2013 title one round early. Villopoto now has two-career 450 Class Championships and three 250 Class titles, totaling five Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships altogether.
- Ryan Dungey is currently tied with Bob Hannah for second place in 450 Class all-time race wins. Dungey needs the final win at Lake Elsinore to achieve 28 career wins and move into second place on the all-time list.
- Villopoto has the opportunity to break into the top 10 on the all-time race wins if he’s able to secure the final victory of the season.
- There is still $25,000 up for grabs in the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot Championship and a three-way battle will be decided on Saturday between James Stewart, Justin Barcia and Ryan Villopoto.
450 Class Stats
- The first Lucas Oil Pro Motocross National was held at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park on September 8, 2012. Ryan Dungey won on a KTM.
- Dungey will look to become the first-ever repeat winner at Lake Elsinore.
- Although the first through fourth positions are locked in, there are still several battles for the top 10 positions in the overall standings.
- Justin Barcia will finish an impressive third overall in the standings in only his first full-season of 450 Class competition. Likewise, teammate Trey Canard will finish fourth overall in his first full Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season on a 450.
- Recently crowned Canadian Motocross Champion Brett Metcalfe will compete in his third Lucas Oil Pro Motocross round of the season on Saturday.
