Crashes (more about that in a bit) were frequent at yesterday’s Nurburgring WSB round. Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes was the winner of Race 1 following a red flag that terminated things after the 18th lap. Marco Melandri (BMW) and Chaz Davies (BMW) finished second and third, respectively. The red flag came out due to crashes involving Jonathan Rea (Honda) and Leon Camier (Suzuki). Rea has been diagnosed with a broken femur.
Race 2 also saw proceedings stopped due to a red flag on the 19th lap due to a crash that blocked the track. The shortened race was awarded to Chaz Davies, followed by second place Eugene Laverty (Aprilia) and third place Marco Melandri.
Tom Sykes leads Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia) by a single point in the championship series. For additional details, results and points, visit the official WSB site here.
