If you thought Tom Sykes would never get over that half point that cost him the 2012 WSB title, you were wrong. Sykes (Kawasaki) capped a great series by clinching the 2013 WSB crown after his third place finish in race 1 earlier today at Jerez. The last Kawasaki rider to win the equivalent world title was Scott Russell in 1993,
Race 1 saw Eugene Laverty (Aprilia) take the win over Marco Melandri (BMW) in second and Sykes in third. Laverty was again victorious in race 2, with Sykes coming home in second and Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia) third.

Great for Tom, he is incredble riding the bike. And also very good for Kawasaki, maybe they wll get into Motogp just to make it more interesting….
seems like such a class act on and off the track. great to see him get what he deserves. Good to see Kawi get the title again. I think they were wrote off as a bike that could spin a few laps fastest (superpole) only to shred the tire in the races.
Kudos to all!
what better gift for the man with the exceptional beard…? an exceptional WORL’ CHAMPEEN…!!! 🙂
No doubt a glorious day for Kawasaki Heavy Industries. They are the perennial underdog and this means a lot to everyone involved, I’m sure.
Well done “Eric” great to see team green win a championship again. Ar Ducatis days of dominance over for good?
where can a guy buy one of those t shirts tom has on? i tried e mailing world superbike with no response.
Nah, they’ll let them go to 1300cc.
