Team Suzuki Press Office – October 2. FIXI Crescent Suzuki will be joined at this weekend’s eni FIM Superbike World Championship event in France by eight-times World Endurance Champion Vincent Philippe.
The Frenchman will make his FIXI Crescent Suzuki World Superbike debut at his home race this coming weekend as a replacement rider for Leon Camier. Philippe is fresh from winning his latest World Title with the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team after a drama-packed final round at Le Mans last month. Hailing from Besancon in France, he will be right at home at the Magny-Cours circuit after competing there many times onboard a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in 24-hour Bol d’Or event, including a podium finish in this season’s race.
FIXI Crescent Suzuki would like to pass on its thanks to SERT and Suzuki France for enabling Philippe to take this opportunity to ride in the World Superbike team. Philippe is competing in France due to Camier’s inability to ride following a serious foot injury he sustained in Turkey last month. Following an operation to repair seven broken bones in his right foot, and a short stay in an Istanbul hospital, Camier is now back at home in Andorra and undertaking a comprehensive rehabilitation schedule. He is already back in the gym training and has put weight on the injury as he bids to be fit for the final race of the season at Jerez later this month.
