Military-Themed Monster Energy Supercross Race Set for San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium

AURORA, Ill. (December 5, 2013) – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that the annual Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, race from San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium on February 8 will take on a military theme to pay tribute to America’s members of the armed forces. Feld Motor Sports will support Operation Homefront, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides assistance to service members and their families with a focus on wounded veterans who served on or after 9/11, by making a monetary donation to the organization. Active and non-active members of the military will receive a $5 discount on $35 tickets by phone or online at Ticketmaster.com by using the code: OPHOME.

The San Diego race, one of the highest attended stops on the 17-race schedule, will showcase military-themed activities while riders and teams will be outfitted with military schemes on their gear and bikes. The San Diego area is home to several military installations, which makes this stop of Monster Energy Supercross a perfect fit to honor to the men and women that have served the country.

“When talking to people about the needs in the military community, I often hear people say I just didn’t know,” said Jack Chirrick, executive director of Operation Homefront – California. “Feld Motor Sports has really taken notice and made a commitment to join with us to honor our heroes and their families.  Our service members and their families sacrifice so much for us, and we want to be sure that we are there to assist them if they need it.”

“The military presence in San Diego is the perfect backdrop for this race and a way that our sport can say thanks to our military members,” said Dave Prater, director of supercross, Feld Motor Sports. “This day is completely dedicated to those men and women that have done so much for our country.”

For the first-time ever, the entire Monster Energy Supercross season will air live on FOX Sports. FOX Sports 1 will air 13 races live and Fox Sports 2 will air four races live, in addition to every race re-airing on FOX Sports 2. The live Monster Energy Supercross programming on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 also includes live coverage on the authenticated FOX Sports Go app.
