- The Budds Creek facility in Southern Maryland is one of the most diverse venues in the country, featuring a world-class motocross track, dirt oval and drag strip all on the same property.
- The Buds Creek MX track is known for its iconic mix of sand and clay, multiple elevation changes and wide range of obstacles.
- This year marks the 25th running of the Budds Creek National.
- In 2007, Budds Creek MX Park was the host venue for the Motocross of Nations.
- As round seven of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, this year marks the latest that the Budds Creek National has been on the schedule since 2009 when it served as round ten in August. This event is typically held in mid-June.
- Through six rounds, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen carries an average finish of 1.58 and the 450 Class points lead. His teammate Ryan Dungey carries a 2.5 finishing average and second place in the standings.
- Eight different riders, who hail from the state of Maryland, will line up between the 450 Class and 250 Class for what they consider to be their home race on the circuit.
- As two-time Budds Creek overall winners, Ryan Dungey (450 Class) and Blake Baggett (250 Class) will each look to secure a third consecutive win in Maryland.
450 Class Stats
- The first 450 Class race held at Budds Creek was May 22, 1994. Mike LaRocco won on a Kawasaki.
- This will be the 21st time the gate will drop at Budds Creek for the 450 Class.
- Ricky Carmichael held a perfect record at Budds Creek. In eight starts, he posted eight overall wins, winning 13 of 16 motos.
- Chad Reed is the only international rider to ever win a 450 Class overall at Budds Creek.
- Ryan Dungey went (1-1) in the 450 Class in 2012, giving the KTM brand its first win at Budds Creek. Dungey went on to capture the 2013 Budds Creek victory with a (2-1) moto score.
