MD is using social media? MD’s archive of great photography is deep. You asked for it — MD is sharing published and unpublished images, as well as behind the scenes moments on our new Instagram. Follow THIS LINK to check it out and follow us.
This is a first step in our effort to get readers more involved in the MD family. Stay tuned for our forum. Tell us in the comments section below what you would like to see on our Instagram.
Sure Dirk is an accomplished wheelie-ist, motorcyclist, photog and writer. But he also has good taste in equipment…
When I was introduced to Vanson Leathers and Arai Helmets, I became a convert to their quality, integrity of construction methods and superior materials.
When you heft the Vanson and see and feel the supple finish and thickness of the leather (double thick in the right spots)its impossible not to be impressed. After 15 years of use, my Mark2 Sport Rider is breaking in nicely. I am on my 4th Arai helmet.
Having been down on a bike (25 years ago) I have an eye towards having the best, should that unfortunate day ever come again. If it happens, saving a couple hundred bucks on a cheap helmet could cost you Big Time. After all, you only have the one brain.
I have two brains. Only one gets me in trouble.
with the exception of plain ol jeans (yes me again pointing that out, yes I know he did not answer before) it’s just that I don’t like to think what if there is oil and your knee gets in between the tarmac: sexy, lovely, adhering, sandpaper 0 tarmac and your 400 pounds+ bike at anything above 30mph.
do it for all those kids that come here, who have a cape with a D on it (lol) and dream bout that bike and riding just like you!! (I remember an issue of sport rider with this guy Trevitt dressed as superman)
I agree jeans are not enough protection. I wear them too often.
I thought we were going to talk about how awesome Vanson Leathers and Arai Helmets are.
That’s a given! 😉
Just lie and tell them there’s Bohns under those jeans. I’m not sure if you’ve reviewed them, but they are very comfortable and they would seem to provide very good protection. They don’t seem to be any hotter the Heat Outs or similar gear that I like and they get rid of some of my chicken legs.
read a review, they are fantastic, the distribute the power by disintegrating themselves, other more softer materials squeeze, torn and inflate (or it’s inflammation) in order to protect the bike, they do even have a purple (like when you get an eye hit) color to indicate which pieces to replace.
Social media? I can barely even text. I hope the little Nun, that pushes the “Your comment is awaiting moderation” button, made you stand in the corner for saying WTF.
So a) nice shot up Market from TP (I presume, sure looks like it) and b) who is that and why is he leaning the wrong way?
That’s Jeff Ward: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/PT60mJGt09A/maxresdefault.jpg If you can teach him the right way to lean, maybe he can add to his 9 AMA national Championships
(he will not add anything Tim, Dirck just like to be mean)
Sorry, didn’t intend to come across as mean.
we all know you are joking and yes it looks like it’s leaning the bike wrong, seems logical once you follow the link and see how low he can get that motard but for us mortals looks wrong
That was an epic reply. LOL
Heh, funny reply but he’s still leaning his upper body the wrong way, unless I’m missing something dramatic. Normally what he’s doing causes the bike to lean more than it would otherwise, making the suspension less effective as well as simply giving you less lee-way when it comes to if you need to turn sharper/tighten line.
So if there’s something I’m missing as to what he’s up to and why I’d be interested in hearing it.
Ah I missed the link. As xLaYN points out if that’s what he’s doing then I see and stand corrected.
I just read an article on doing things wrong to make things right. It just showed a picture of a pretty good rider seemingly doing things all wrong in a picture, he explained the circumstances and reasons (off camber, out of corner, lowered traction etc). I guess sometimes you gotta win ugly!
long dead the social media…. but those photos are niiiice, I love the old zx one and the FB6
I don’t even have facebook, much less instagram. lol!
I aint a social butterfly either. Nice pics.
We’ll send MD some of our own. Pick and post the ones MD likes. That would be cool. MD reader’s rides.
We’re game.
in Instagram, if I comment with:
@motorcycledaily
does it show on your page???
I just did – so I’m curious if you can see it.
How about the “Readers Rides” link off the main MD page for pics? Put them on, take them off at MD discretion. Who wouldn’t want an opportunity to see his ride shown? Replace the “Rumors” link with “Readers Rides”. I’ve had MD for many many years as my home page and never once even went to “Rumors” link. Switch it out for something that guys can brag about – and their friends could click on to see – more site activity for MD from riders who wouldn’t have stopped by the site otherwise. Give it a shot.
Just saw the Instagram link. Very cool.
I wouldn’t know it was readers rides – maybe title the button “Readers Rides” or something to that effect.
Thanks
After going there, I don’t really want to have to sign up for instagram.
I think we will end up with a reader’s photo section on MD itself … no need to use Instagram. Stay tuned.
must have worked
It did. Following you.
Followed by readers’ wives…
