The 2015 edition of the Isle of Man TT ended Friday with the Senior TT going to John McGuinness. Top rider for the week, however, was Ian Hutchinson, as you can see from the summary of the results of the major two wheel TT events. Hutchinson is pictured above aboard his Yamaha taking the win in the second supersport event (picture and results courtesy of iomtt.com).
As we reported earlier, Victory, for the first time, took on the TT in the electric bike category (TT Zero) with two accomplished riders, but as the results table below indicates, they were no match for the Team Mugen riders.
It was a great year, with MacGuiness winning, Hutchy and the great comeback, and The Flying Beard that is Bruce Anstey. 🙂 My only slight regret is that whenI was there 15 years ago there were many very different clases, 400s, 600s, Supermono, 125, and the 1000s. Now apart from the excellent Supertwins, its all much of a muchness.
Was a brilliant TV. Pre and post race stuff on ITV4 could have been better – that bit before the Senior where the host commentator was “superimposed” into old footage was the epitome of lame – but the racing was fantastic.
Fair play to Hutchy. Many would not even get back on a bike after what he’d been through, let alone ride the greatest roadrace in the world. I almost teared up myself watching him at the Supersport 1 post-race press conf. Also good to see McGuinness still has it. Some were disappointed for MickyD, but I say it’s karma for abandoning Yamaha. Anstey getting his first Superbike win was also good. Not a single BMW win was icing on the cake.
re: “I say it’s karma for abandoning Yamaha”
any TT fortnight you live to tell about is a WIN.
Thank you Velocity…my favorite motorcycle race to watch.
+1, Frank: Thank You VELOCITY, for the nightly replays of the ITV4 summaries of each day’s race.
Now please, would you get the rights for The 24 Hours of LeMans, so I won’t have to hop, skip, and jump from FoxSports to FosSports One to FoxSports Two to FoxSports GO just to watch the damn race !
Strange how McGuiness dominated the Senior but wasn’t near the front, while Hutchinson won or nearly one in every class he entered except the Senior.
With a storm hitting the Isle a week prior, plus constant cancellations to practice sessions due to more rain and wind, most riders couldn’t find a decent setup and used the first Superbike race as a test session in some ways. That was basically half the story behind John’s pace in the first race – the other being he didn’t get a good first lap in and things deteriorated from there, in his own words.
Oh, and Hutchy was leading the Senior before the race got restarted following a red flag. So it could well have been a win if his rhythm wasn’t broken. Who knows. The man’s already gone above and beyond whatever was expected of him. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain he went through, his leg being held together like it was.
McPINT…!!! great coverage on Velocity again this year.
fairplay to hutchy for the overall, almost a 2010 repeat. no mean accomplishment when you’re fully fit, nevermind after a bazillion operations.
Did you see where I think it was in the SBK race he mistimed a hump and when he landed got a front speed wobble that almost threw him off? Unbelievable stuff.
yup, I was looking at the again yesterday thinking somebody should loop that into a animated gif. k-tech suspension most likely. LOL
McGuinness is THE MAN!
