The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship heads to the east of Germany for a historic return to the Lausitzring, for Round 10 of the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship after a nine- year hiatus. The last race at the long, winding track saw legends Noriyuki Haga, Troy Bayliss and Max Biaggi battle it out for the wins in front of huge crowds. Now we return with a new era of Champions such as Rea, Sykes and Davies, who look to find glory at the new frontier.
Action for the fans kicks off on Friday morning for STK1000 Free Practice at 9:15, before WorldSBK and WorldSSP take to the track to decide entry to Saturday’s Tissot- Superpole 2 qualifying sessions. Live commentary for all WorldSBK and WorldSSP sessions will take place from the Paddock Show with various German riders as guest speakers, throughout the weekend.
16:15 local time on Friday sees the Paddock Show take centre stage, as the WorldSBK Opening Day Show welcomes the fastest riders of the day from WorldSBK and WorldSSP, to talk about the day’s action on track at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. Thereafter the Paddock Show hosts a chat with Team Managers before a STK1000 Meet and Greet ends the day’s activities.
Saturdays events kick off with WorldSBK Free Practice 3 at 8:45 ahead of Tissot Superpole 1 at 10:30 local time. Be sure to stay present on track before WorldSBK Race 1 for the Tissot Superpole Prize-Giving Ceremony and Pirelli Best Lap Award. After WorldSBK Race 1, the Paddock Show will host the three fastest riders from WorldSSP Tissot-Superpole and the FIM European Junior Cup, ahead of WorldSSP Meet ‘n’ Greet at 14:45.
The Paddock Show then runs on until 16:00 hosting Chat Shows and live commentaries before Pit Lane becomes accessible to the lucky fans who purchase Special Access passes for the days Pit Walk.
At 16:30 the Party in the Paddock will get every fan rocking with a concert behind the main grandstand by local band “New German Hardness”, covering the best of RAMMSTEIN, which will run on into the evening.
WorldSSP initiate track action on Sunday morning at 9:00 for Warm Up, before FIM European Junior Cup riders take to the Paddock Show Stage for a Meet ‘n’ Greet ahead of the WorldSSP race. Don’t miss the MOTUL Chat Segment with Leon Camier followed by the WorldSBK Meet ‘n’ Greet as tension builds ahead of Race 2 at 13:00.
The Paddock Show will then welcome Sundays fastest of each category beginning with the WorldSSP top 3 after the STK1000 race and WorldSBK’s quickest men after the FIM European Junior Cup race. The weekend will be rounded out with the podium finishers from STK1000 and FIM European Junior Cup to conclude the massive Paddock Show Schedule.
Off track action for the fans doesn’t end there; throughout the entire weekend the Merchant Area will keep fans’ adrenaline pumping, with Test Drives from Ducati and Kawasaki, as well as guided test rides with BMW and quad rides free. The BMW Motorrad On Tour truck will allow fans to experience a lap of the Lausitzring on the S 1000 RR, with the Virtual Reality “EyeRide”, as well as showcasing the latest BMW Motorrad models.
Special Access Paddock passes are still available for purchase on WorldSBK.com and super fans will have the opportunity to camp directly at the circuit.
With such a packed schedule of on and off track mayhem, Round 10 of the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is sure to deliver another spectacular weekend of racing from the 16th to 18th of September at the Pirelli German Round.
