Usually crashing in wet conditions is not near as brutal on the rider’s body than doing it in dry conditions. Wet = a lot more sliding instead of breaking.
10% chance of rain there tomorrow, race day.
Watched the video replay of Crutchlow’s qualifying lap. His apparent speed and lean angles only fit your images for a dry track. But Cal sprayed gallons of rain water ten feet vertical! It was mind boggling.
One wonders what would be comparative lap times of a club racer on slicks on a dry track. Rossi’s no slug in the rain. This stat tells the story as well as your eyes watching Crutchlow’s qualifying lap: #2 Rossi’s lap time took .997S longer.
For the remainder of the season, what average finish position yields MM his third MotoGP Championship? He crashed again! Man, these guys take a beating. I wonder who crashes better, MM or SethA of Seth’s Bike Hacks (in his recent video “how to increase safety while crashing” he crashes on purpose about fifty times without injury).
Sidebar off topic: Thank you Provologna. Seth is not only very talented as a rider, he is an unbelievably skilled videographer, director and editor. Extremely enjoyable videos. Thanks again for the reference!
Watched it this morning. Very interesting qualifying. Man, Crutchlow was on a terror. Quite a few bit the tarmac riding in those conditions, incl Marquez. Poor Lorenzo although he looked better today, rain is just not his thing. Laverty was putting in a very fast lap until he got spat off. Poor Dovi carted away, hope he is ok…and look at Dani. Holy cow
Going to be interesting tomorrow!
