Chaz Davies (Ducati) recorded his third double of the year when he took both race wins at Magny-Cours this weekend. Particularly satisfying for the Ducati ace, he won in varying conditions, including a wet-to-dry Race 1 and an entirely dry Race 2.
Race 1 saw Michael van der Mark (Honda) come home second ahead of Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes. In Race 2, the Kawasaki factory teammates battled over second place with Jonathan Rea edging out Sykes at the flag.

And to think he won the first race on wets the whole way through while others were swapping over to slicks. Even more impressive is he had enough of a lead to be able to swing over to the pit wall and slap hands with his crew.
I don’t think Davies was on wets and that’s why the first few laps he was in 12th place even though he started on the front row.
In the 2nd race Davies could barely keep up with the 2 Kawis until they started fighting each other to lead the race. Then they left an opening between them and he motored on thru an pulled away for the win.
He was on intermediates, not wets.
The last time I leaned over that far on a bike I was about 4/5 the way into a crash.
How DO these guys corner like that?

Well heated race slicks and a clean track control surface probably contribute greatly.
