Monster Energy Supercross Historical Notes Package – Round 2 – PETCO Park – San Diego, CA

San Diego has been a championship staple for Monster Energy Supercross, spanning across four decades. “America’s Finest City” has hosted 35 races over the last 37 years, including two rounds last season.

The Military Appreciation Race has raised more than $100,000 for local non-profits supporting San Diego veterans and their families over the past four years. Much of the proceeds have come through the exclusive online auction featuring race-worn gear, which will commence on Sunday, January 15th.

The San Diego round of Monster Energy Supercross was hosted inside Qualcomm Stadium from 1980 until 2014, ultimately moving to Petco Park in the famed “Gaslamp District” downtown in 2015.

Petco Park might be the only stadium in the country with a historic landmark built into it. The Western Metal Supply building in left field was designated with this distinction by the city of San Diego in 1978 and arguably serves as the stadium’s most defining feature.
