Round 8 of the 2017 MotoGP series is taking place at the iconic Assen circuit this weekend with the championship points battle closer than it has been in several years. The top five riders are currently separated by just 28 points with Maverick Viñales (Yamaha) holding a narrow 7 point advantage over Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati).
Friday practice saw Viñales post the quickest time with other Yamaha M1 machinery looking comfortable and fast, including the Tech3 satellite bikes under Jonas Folger and Johann Zarco. Lorenzo Baldissari’s highside today in Moto2 qualifying was one of the most violent single-rider crashes you will ever see. So much air, such a crushingly hard landing, then his bike nails him.
My god, that was a bad one. Surrounding him with ambulances and concealing tarps is never a good sign, but at least he was eventually reported to be conscious.

I bought the Moto GP video package and I’m really disappointed on the quality of the streaming feed. It doesn’t surprise me they focus on censoring before making sure we can actually view it.
