Laguna Seca WSB Results (Race 2)

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) won Race 2 at Laguna Seca earlier today with a bike that seemed to be much improved for the track conditions versus his second place performance yesterday. Rea passed the early leader, teammate Tom Sykes, who eventually finished in second place. Yesterday’s winner, Chaz Davies (Ducati) rounded out the podium in third.

Rea continues to lead the championship points battle. You will find full Race 2 results here. For additional details and points, visit the official WSB site.

I was hoping for more out of Yamaha. It’s been a disappointing year for the R1.

With Nicky gone this will be my last year subscribing unless they decide to do something pretty major to shake things up–e.g., spec ECU, moving to a more stock formula, etc. Nothing against the riders: a lot of the racing is great, but it’s just no fun to watch the same four bikes run at the front for the entirety of most every race. Especially with MotoGP as good as it is these days.

Actually, I probably wouldn’t have stuck around even if Nicky were still with us. The Honda went backwards from consistent top 5/6 finishes, with podiums and a win, to consistent P 11-13 finishes. I felt bad for him every race this year.

Rhea, Sykes and Davies on the podium? I’m shocked! ( yes being facetious)

I feel sorry for Tom Sykes right now. On almost every WSBK race his team mate Jon Rea passes him for 1st place before the end of the race. Before Rea joined that team Sykes was the leading winner.

Was glad to see Chaz Davies get a win this WSBK weekend after what happened to him @ Misano. 1st & 3rd ain’t bad for what he’s been thru the last few races.

Jake Gagne did good replacing Nicky Hayden. Hope he gets to stay in WSBK for the rest of the season even though his Honda isn’t really competitive yet. He put some pressure on Bradl, his team mate.

Both Davies & Gagnes bike/riders looked FABULOUS !!
