Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse was back on track at Laguna Seca on Saturday July 8th for the first race of the weekend, with Leon Camier crossing the finish line in P6, after starting from the 3rd row on the grid.
After closing with the 7th lap time on friday’s qualifying sessions, Leon Camier was back on track for the Saturday’s Tissot-Superpole2 relying on a very positive feeling with his MV Agusta F4 RC machine. In the fifteen minutes of SP2, Camier started a tight fight for the grid position, but the high track temperatures heavily outweighed the performance of the British, who managed to close with a 1’23,566 lap time and get the 9th position on grid, only 1s from the first row.
In Race 1, the British made a good start and immediately managed to come back a position on the first lap, setting up a very fast and solid race pace. In the middle of the race Leon is able to get in P6, a position he will keep until the end of the race, after having pushed hard to catch Xavi Fores for the P5.
With the +10 points gained today at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Camier is stable 8th in the Championship standings and tomorrow will kick off Race 2 from the first row on the starting grid.
Leon Camier #2 WorldSBK – I am definitely happy with this result today. Over these two days we made some little changes and, despite the hot conditions in the race, the bike’s setting today was working really well. I think we learnt something about working with some other options on the front tyre, which is very positive as well. In the second part of the race I tried to caught Fores but I lost the front a couple of times and I preferred to stay safe on my position.
