If you have an extra 10 minutes, or are sitting at home on holiday, take a look at this excellent video of a motorcyclist catching, and passing, a Renault Megane RS on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The rider appears to be on a BMW S1000RR, and certainly knows his way around the circuit.
As a point of reference, a fast automobile lap involves corner speeds higher than a motorcycle is capable of, while a high performance superbike will typically murder cars on the straights. Have a look.

if you ever been to Germany, you can see in this video how the “driver etiquette” of slow vs. fast drivers on the Autobahn translates to the Ring. unlike here in States, slow drivers in Germany are NEVER CONFUSED about their place in the order of things and know it’s their duty to “keep right” for fast movers.
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE…!!!
it’s even slow driver etiquette to “move left” when already on the motorway but approaching interchanges. if your travelling nearest Stuggart, and you don’t do this, you WILL constantly find yourself with a rear view mirror full of Merc AMG or 911 turbo. it’s going to happen so don’t be “that guy”, achtung baby.
Wonderful driving from both of them, actually wondering how the car manages to keep up with relative ease.
Doggone it: Even in Germany, on the famous ring, it’s still the same old thing, cage drviers just HAVE TO tailgate a motorcycle. Rats ! ! !
This is obviously not my CBR300R
That’s how everyone “thinks” they ride on the street with their buddies
I actually do know guys who ride like that on the street.
I do not ride with those guys.
re: “I actually do know guys who ride like that on the street.”
FISTPUMP…!!!
re: “I do not ride with those guys”
aw man.
yeah, awesome/fun… but w/ the leaned over wheelies/jumps, ALWAYS going faster than you can see, absolutely zero runoff/corner worker support, it’s easy to see why Jackie stewart didn’t like this place or why Nikki lauda might have bad memories…
Well done, he did know his lines didn’t he?
The camera guy is pretty skilled too.
That’s what I was thinking the whole time. What the heck was he in/on to keep up?
It was mentioned, a Renault Megane RS.

Wow, I saw the note in the article about the car that followed the bike but did not realize it was that car. Impressive for both machines

Sub-5 minute lap in a 2007 F1 Ferrari. Lol
🙂
I doubt a modern F1 car would survive the Nordschleife without some serious ride height and floorboard changes.
There is plenty of examples of F1 cars newer than 2007 (still, very modern) on the ‘ring. I’m sure there are set up for it.
Pretty realistic isn’t it? 🙂
That’s one of the reasons we all love motorcycles. Awesome, fun video.
