ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Marvin Musquin and the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team made their return to the 450SX podium on Saturday with a 3rd place finish at Round 11 of the AMA Supercross Championship in St. Louis, Missouri. In the 250SX East division, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jordon Smith charged through the pack to earn a hard-fought 3rd place finish, extending his podium streak to three-in-a-row.
In the 450SX Main Event, Musquin shot off the line aboard his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION and into the 3rd place position off the start. The French rider maintained a steady pace throughout the 27-lap Main Event as he worked hard to close the gap on the leaders ahead. Despite a hard-charge, Musquin wasn’t able to close the gap where he finished 3rd for the night in St. Louis.
Musquin: “I’m a little bit disappointed with the performance tonight, I finished pretty far off the leaders. Riding by myself the whole Main Event was not easy but I gave my best the whole time. I still got a 3rd place on the podium but I wish I could have battled more with the 2nd place. I thought the riding was okay but I was just missing a little bit of rhythm.”
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Broc Tickle bounced back from a tough weekend in Daytona one week ago. Tickle had a good ride in his heat race, battling inside the top-three all race long to ultimately finish 3rd into the 450SX Main Event. Tickle carried that momentum into the Main Event as he put himself into the 4th place position off the start. Tickle stayed within the top-five throughout the first half of the 27-lap Main Event before dropping back a few positions to ultimately finish 7th for the night.
Tickle: “Overall I would say it was a positive weekend from the last couple I’ve had. It’s definitely a step in the right direction. I had two good starts and I put myself in a good place to get good results. I felt like I was just a little off speed-wise today on the track but all-in-all it was a positive weekend.”
In the 250SX East Main Event, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jordon Smith began just inside the top ten. Smith made a big push early on to position himself inside the top-five by the halfway point and from there, he charged toward the podium. Smith continued his climb to position himself inside the top three en route to his third-consecutive podium finish.
