Kawasaki Riders Eli Tomac and Adam Cianciarulo Sweep Supercross Finale in Las Vegas

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (May 7, 2018) – The final round of the 2018 Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship was held on Saturday night under the lights of Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac rode to a dominating wire-to-wire victory to take his eighth win of the season. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo captured his first victory of the season in the highly prestigious 250SX East/West Showdown, giving Pro Circuit its 150th supercross win.

Tomac and Bowers got off to strong starts in 450SX Heat 2 and completed the opening lap in third and fourth place, respectively. Tomac quickly mounted a charge to the front of the field to take the checkered flag first, while Bowers rode well to finish third.

As the gate dropped for the final 450SX Main Event of the season it was Tomac who took the holeshot to lead the 22-rider field out of the first turn, while Bowers sat in eighth. Tomac instantly put in blistering lap times out front and overcame heavy pressure early in the race to distance himself from his competitors. He would charge until the final corner to take the checkered flag with a four second margin of victory. Bowers was riding strong inside of the top-10 until a bobble on Lap 18 forced him to withdraw from the race early. He was credited with 20th position.

“Our starts were on point all day,” said Tomac. “I feel good about how we rode throughout the day and finished out here, especially with the challenging track. We ended the season on the podium and healthy so I’m happy with our results and ready to suit up to take on the outdoors!”

“I came out tonight feeling really good after my results in qualifying and the heat race,” said Bowers. “I definitely didn’t want the night to end this way, but I had fun out on the track today and put it all out there knowing this was my last race of the season. It’s a bummer to see it come to a close. I really enjoyed filling in as I continued to progress with the Monster Energy Kawasaki crew and wish it kept going all year. I look forward to what’s next and I am so grateful for all of the support from the team.”
