Welcome to America: WorldSBK takes on the Golden Gate Bridge

It’s time for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship riders to take on America, and they were offered the best possible welcome as they took to an escorted ride over the world famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, ahead of the GEICO US Round in two days time.

The sun shone down over the Californian landmark, and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team), Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), Eugene Laverty (Milwuakee Aprilia), Loris Baz (GULF Althea BMW Racing Team) and wildcard Josh Herrin (Attack Performance Two Wheel Legal Yamaha) swung their legs over road legal versions of their SBK® machines, riding from Vista Point straight over the iconic bridge.

With three time world champion Rea leading the way at the front of a chevron formation, they were able to have to some fun in the Californian sunshine on their five mile ride. Relishing the ride over as they look out onto the Pacific Ocean, the riders were able to live their own American Dream ahead of Round Eight of the championship, in a once in a life time Wednesday ride.

Parking up at Ghirardelli Square, the fun didn’t stop there as the local delicacy of Clam Chowder was on offer, and they were joined by local heroes Jake Gagne (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) and PJ Jacobsen (TripleM Honda World Superbike Team). Meeting with local members of the media, anticipation is certainly building ahead of what is set to be a stunning weekend of racing action.

Racing alongside MotoAmerica this weekend, the on-track action will be second to none, and it wasn’t only the WorldSBK riders who had fun over the bridge, as they were joined by Yamaha’s Cameron Baubier and Suzuki’s Valentin Debise.

Don’t miss the WorldSBK action on track this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Friday welcomes free practice from 09.45LT (-7 GMT), with Superpole at 11.00 and lights going out for both races – Race One on Saturday and Race Two on Sunday – at 14.00LT.
