Like everyone else, apparently, we fell in love with the Kawasaki Ninja 400 that debuted this year in production form. We also told our readers about a CARB certification indicating that a naked version was on its way to the U.S. market. Europe (including a posting on the Kawasaki UK web site … perhaps prematurely) now confirms that the Z400 model is on its way.
With the same 399cc parallel-twin engine, the Z400 makes 6 horsepower more than the earlier 300cc model, along with gobs more torque. An assist/slipper clutch, as well as 41mm forks and 310mm front brake disc are also part of the package.
We are waiting for a press release from Kawasaki here in the United States to confirm more details, availability and pricing. Stay tuned.

The fully clothed Ninja 400 looks way better than this.
I’d buy one if it only looked more like an alien’s robotic clone.
I’d buy one if the tail section was just a little higher of the ground.
I like the idea, but the street fighter seating and stying is a no go for me.
Now this bike hits a hot spot.
These bikes aren’t gonna look too hot in 3 years when all those black pieces have little scratches in em. Green goes so well with a gold-ish finish like Honda uses too.
Still too much plastic.
Not as bad as the FZ7 but not pretty and certainly not very functional. How do I get my workout bag and computer bag to the gym and then work? I can’t put a GIVI boot on it and I hate bags. I will have to go take a look at one in person to see if it works in real life. I had visions of a CB350 or a KZ400 in my mind. A flat seat that I could really ride double on. Or perhaps strap a bag to. I know I am aging myself but these wield multi-leveled seats just suck in my opinion.
Kawasaki, please hire a new styling team.
To each his own. The styling looks just fine to me.
Likewise.
