Qualifying for tomorrow’s opening round of the 2019 MotoGP championship was held under the lights at Qatar this evening. Qualifying on pole was Maverick ViƱales (Yamaha), with Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) and Marc Marquez (Honda) filling out the front row grid spots.
Other interesting notes include the fact that Jorge Lorenzo (Honda) suffered a huge high-side crash in practice earlier today, but came back to ride and qualify in 15th position. Lorenzo is still sore from his crash, however, and his competitiveness tomorrow is in doubt. Valentino Rossi qualified poorly – as the fourth quickest Yamaha – down in 14th position, and well behind the impressive Yamaha rookie Fabio Quartararo, who qualified in the middle of the second row with the fifth quickest time.

When Marquez ages out of MotoGP, he can have a long career as a Hollywood stuntman. He has to be the most experienced and skilled crasher in history.
Looks that way for now…
Lorenzo has been in the dirt more than a groundhog this weekend. Rough start for him. Marquez was down at least twice too, but unhurt.
Some of the rookies don’t realize they are rookies.
So glad winter is over and they are racing again.

Nope, when he retires from racing he has to fulfill his duties for Satan, per his contract.
Actually that award would go to Danica Patrick but since we’re talking motorcycles we’ll have to leave it at MM.
I’m not too sure what you guys are referring to but I don’t do the modern day witchcraft thing, so MM is just one helva racer to me. Winter’s over? Really? I had the handle bars of my ELECTRIC ice auger above my head yesterday, as I drilled thru 24″ of snow and 32″ of clear ice yesterday, so winter’s still cold here. All is good though, as Moto GP is upon us! If JLo didn’t have bad luck, he’d have no luck. It looks like Yamaha’s satellite team has a couple of young bucks up and coming. It seems like the temperature really drops at night in the desert. Maybe if they raced earlier in the day, they’d get more than 2,000 fans at the race. Ah, oil money, it can buy just about anything except warm tires, at least the video is great.
Lol how about winter is in it’s last grasps? DST tonight, and Spring officially in what 10 days?
Qatar pays HUGE money to be the first race of the year and stipulates it must be at night under their lights which gives it a special look among all the MotoGP races. There isnt much Dorna can do about it unless they want to lose a giant payday.
If Patrick made that deal she got gypped big time
The 2019 MotoGP champion is on the front row, as is the likely second and third place finishers.
