IT’S MUGELLO!
THE MOST LONG-AWAITED RACE IS COMING, THE HOME RACE FOR APRILIA RACING TEAM GRESINI
Every round of the season is equally important, but some are charged with significant elements and this is the case of the GP of Italy in Mugello. The first Italian round on the 2019 calendar is also Aprilia’s home track and it has always been characterised by particularly passionate and numerous fans. In fact, just a few weeks ago, it hosted the Aprilia All Stars, an extraordinary event where more than 10 thousand fans and enthusiasts of the manufacturer from Noale gathered.
The theatre of spectacular duels and the site of numerous tests for the Italian team, the Tuscan asphalt has hosted dozens of wins for Aprilia which is now seeking the same satisfaction obtained so often here in the lower engine sizes in MotoGP as well.
Counting on that extra drive from the fans will be Aleix Espargaró, who performed well in qualifying and finished the last race in Le Mans in the points, but who also fully intends to get back into the top ten, just like last year. The Spanish rider will be able to work on his RS-GP with the additional support of the Aprilia Test Team, which has been on the track right there at Mugello with Bradley Smith in recent days.
The main unknown as far as Andrea Iannone is concerned is his physical condition, something the Italian rider has been working hard on since Le Mans with the clear intention of tackling his home race in the best possible conditions.
ALEIX ESPARGARO’
“For Aprilia, this is an important race. It is held in Italy on a spectacular circuit. I will be expecting great support from the fans and we really need their contribution because the level this season is incredibly high. Everyone improves quickly and Aprilia is also working hard. In anticipation of the race, we need to focus on improving compared to Le Mans where a problem with grip slowed me down in the race.”
ANDREA IANNONE
“Mugello is a track that has always been a great thrill for me, both because it is the first Italian MotoGP round and because of the good results that I have achieved on this asphalt. So, the goal is to tackle it in the best possible way. We know our limits, but we also have a great desire to grow and to achieve important results.”
