Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 4 July 2019 – Following the tragic death of the Spider Grips Ducati motorcycle rider on June 30, 2019 while racing at The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the organization of the race and Ducati North America have created a GoFundMe online fundraising account to support Carlin’s mother, Romie, during this difficult time. His loss is felt throughout the international motorcycling and racing community.
The fundraising initiative, which started off with a donation of 932 dollars from the PPIHC management, aims to reach a total of 100,932 dollars. The number 932 represents the hypothetical time (9 minutes 32 seconds) that Carlin Dunne would have set on his way towards a new track record, had he not been the victim of a tragic crash in sight of the finish line.
The fundraising page also contains Carlin Dunne’s final video-blog, which he recorded the day before the race, in addition to an emotional tribute from his competitors, who paid their respects to him during the prize-giving ceremony.
