Miguel Olivera (KTM) will start from pole position at his home MotoGP event tomorrow in Portugal. Olivera took his maiden MotoGP pole ahead of second quickest Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha) and third quickest Jack Miller (Ducati). The 2020 MotoGP champion Joan Mir (Suzuki) qualified way back in 20th position.
This is the first MotoGP event ever held at the Portimao venue, and it is the last race on the 2020 calendar.
For full qualifying results, take a look here. Stay tuned for race coverage on MD tomorrow.
Good for Olivera getting pole at his home race. Beautiful neat track btw. Too bad the fans were not there to see it.
Indeed, really cool to see. I only had time to watch qualifying and the last 10 minutes of FP3, so I don’t know what Olivera’s race pace looks like. I’d love to see him fighting for victory, though. He will probably be in win-it-or-bin-it mode on Sunday.
“Win it or bin it” will definitely describe Pol and Jack tomorrow.
Great race with some fierce passing. Another great last lap shootout
Schweet! 😀
