Thailand MotoGP Sprint and Full Race Results

The Thailand MotoGP round was held this weekend with two races run under dry conditions. Jorge Martin (Ducati) dominated the weekend with a pole position, new lap record and wins in both the Saturday Sprint and Sunday full race.

On Saturday, Martin had an easier time of it, while taking a comfortable win over Brad Binder (KTM) in second and Luca Marini (Ducati) in third.

Martin lead nearly the entire race on Sunday as well, but the final two laps saw a close fight between the top three riders. Ultimately, Martin crossed the finish line ahead of Binder and Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) with 1/4 of a second covering the top three riders. Although Binder beat Bagnaia to the line, he was docked one position for exceeding track limits. Thus Bagnaia was credited with second place and Binder third.

With three rounds remaining (a total of six races), the fight for the championship is very close between Martin and Bagaia (who now holds just a 13 point cushion).

I’m always amazed how calm the riders are during their post-race interviews. They just rode beyond the limits of tires and machine for several laps, missed each other by centimeters dozens of times…and you’d think they were being asked how they enjoyed their lunch at Arbys. These guys are super human. All of them.

Interesting season with both top riders suffering a DNF or three. Martin is slowly eroding Pecco’s lead and any further DNF’s will likely determine the season. I hope it stays close to the final race and final lap.

F1- have a nap from lap 2 on. MotoGP- scream at the TV for all three classes.

No kidding. Watching the Moto3 highlights before the main event, they flash to two laps to go and the racing looked like 1st lap. 8 bikes swarming for the lead at the end of the race.

This race was the 4th closest podium in the history of the premier class.

both of these guys are riding well enough to be champ, but in different ways. martin with pole/sprint/gp dominance and bagnia w/ the ‘bring-it-home’ approach. it’s nice that the machine aspect is as equal as can be. yes maximus, i am entertained.

Some great racing this weekend. Both Moto GP and World Superbike.

    That was a tense race.

      “Are you not ENTERTAINED?!?!”

It was a pretty amazing race. Pecco is riding like a champ in the sense that he’s extracting everything he can from each race but his getting roughed up at the starts isn’t helping. Jorge is putting in some heroic rides.

  7. Mick says:

    It’s really Martin’s to lose.
