Cannondale Announces Three-Bike Line-up for 2000

Cannondale EX400

The Indianapolis industry show this last weekend saw Cannondale announce a total of three off-road motorcycles, including the previously announced MX400, and two additional machines, the cross-country XC400 and enduro EX400. Thumbnails of each of these bikes are shown below, which are clickable for larger images.

Cannondale MX4000

The long-awaited MX400 will actually be 432cc (redesigned to be slightly larger than Yamaha’s YZ426). The dry weight of the motocross machine is heavier than expected, at a claimed 242 pounds. Keep in mind, however, that the motocross machine, as well as the other two off-road models, comes standard with electric start and fuel injection. Complete specifications for the MX400 are shown below.

Cannondale XC400

The XC400 and EX400 are based on the MX400, with the following primary differences. Each of these off-road models features a larger, 3.0 gallon gas tank, spark arrestor, 18 inch rear wheel, and lighting coil. The EX400 additionally features an odometer, headlamp and tail light.

Although the XC400 has the same suspension valving and motor as the MX400, the EX400 has enduro-specific suspension settings and fuel injection mapping.

The MX400 should be in dealers within 30 to 60 days, according to Cannondale. Delivery dates for the other two off-road models have not been announced. Expect a U.S. MSRP of approximately $8,000 for the MX400.
