Honda’s Colin Edwards, who couldn’t stop crowing about how wonderful his RC51 was before the start of the season, is sounding less confident lately about taking the WSB title this year.
With the WSB traveling circus visiting Brands Hatch in England this weekend, Edwards hangs onto the points lead, but Aprilia’s Troy Corser is closing fast. Lately, rather than talk about how he expects victory at virtually every round, Edwards is talking about how fast everyone else is this year. Corser, Bayliss, Bostrom, etc., are all “riding their asses off” according to a quote seen in another publication.
Of course, Yamaha’s Noriyuki Haga is still lurking near the top of the points’ standings despite his problems this year, and the resolution of his urine test results is still up in the air. Anything could happen with Haga. He could lose more points, he could regain his Kayalami points . . . Who knows? A final decision on Haga’s punishment, if any, is still some time off.
In any event, this year’s WSB championship race is far from over, and Edwards knows it.
