I guess Ducati likes Ben Bostrom, after all. After being demoted from the top factory squad last year, and then redeeming himself with several outstanding rides in WSB, Ducati has placed Bostrom back at the top level of its racing organization (as we reported earlier). Interestingly, Bostrom may be on a separate team, all by himself, utilizing Dunlop tires. Other Ducati factory riders, including Troy Bayliss and Ruben Xaus, will be on a separate squad riding Michelin tires. All three riders will have the latest and greatest equipment, including the new superbike engine.
Bostrom, according to everything we have read, is a marketer’s dream in Europe. The press and the fans love him, and his sponsors (particularly, Alpinestars) have his image appearing everywhere. With a year of WSB racing under his belt, his beloved Dunlop tires and the mysteries of his bike set up reportedly solved, can Bostrom be a factor in next year’s WSB championship? Yes.
