Locals Rule Sugo Superbikes

There were six podium positions today (two in each race) at Sugo, Japan’s World Superbike Championship Round. Only one of them was taken by a non-Japanese rider, Carl Fogarty (Ducati), who finished second in the first race. Fogarty was flanked by Ryo (Suzuki) and Yanagawa (Kawasaki), who finished first and third in the first race, respectively.

Yanagawa, Ryo and Kitagawa (Suzuki) finished first, second and third in race two.

Fogarty had previously secured the Championship, and ends the year with a massive 128 point lead over second place Colin Edwards (Honda). Edwards actually tied Troy Corser (Ducati) with 361 championship points on the year, but Edwards is awarded second place because he won more races than Corser did.
