PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that KYMCO will bring its demo fleet of scooters and motorcycles to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, July 22-24, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
“With the current trend in rising gas prices, more and more consumers are turning toward alternate means of transportation,” said KYMCO USA Director of Marketing Rick Pawelka. “We have seen many new customers enter the scooter market looking for daily commuter vehicles that are as economical to own as they are to operate.”
For the 2012 model year, KYMCO has introduced the new People GT to meet that demand. Available with a 200cc or 300cc engine, it combines contemporary design, ergonomic comfort, modern technology and performance. Powered by a new four-valve electronic fuel-injected engine, it has ample underseat storage, a 12-volt accessory plug and a top case as standard equipment.
In addition to the new KYMCO People GT, other demonstration vehicles include the new KYMCO Downtown 200i, a slightly smaller displacement than the 2011 Downtown 300i, as well as KYMCO’s flagship Xciting 500i maxi scooter, featuring electronic fuel injection and anti-lock braking.
“The events team at KYMCO USA always looks forward to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days”, Pawelka added. “We probably do more demo rides at this event that at any other venue.”
With the introduction of the latest mid-range displacement scooters, KYMCO has introduced a great solution for consumers who appreciate the cost savings of commuting on two wheels without sacrificing rider comfort, fun and performance.
Held at the world-class Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days features vintage and post-vintage competition in motocross, trials, hare scrambles, roadracing and dirt track. In addition to demo rides of current production bikes, the event includes North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet, educational seminars, bike shows, motorcycling seminars, the new product Manufacturers’ Midway, and club corrals featuring marque and regional clubs.
The Marque of the Year at 2011 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is Kawasaki. The event grand marshal will be announced shortly.
Proceeds from AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days benefit the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The goal of the Hall of Fame, located on the campus of the AMA in Pickerington, Ohio, is to honor the distinguished men and women whose competitive spirit, passion, vision and entrepreneurship have played a vital role in shaping the sport, lifestyle and business of motorcycling.
