AURORA, Ill. (June 21, 2011) – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., will compete at this year’s inaugural Monster Energy Cup race set to take place October 15 at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium.
After wrapping up his ninth season, Reed, a two-time Supercross class champion, has earned 120 top-five finishes, and sits third on the all-time Supercross class wins list with 40.
When asked about the $1 million purse on the line, Reed says, “Anytime you get told there is a new race that potentially has a $1 million purse on the line, it’s a good thing. I’m excited; I think it will be fun to go to Las Vegas in October and try to win that million dollar race.”
Following an impressive runner-up finish for the 2011 supercross season, Reed won two races and earned 10 additional podium finishes, which carried him to top of the Supercross class all-time podium finishes list with 114.
Reed ended the supercross season with a win at Sam Boyd Stadium. Hard work and focus are the key ingredients to success as the TwoTwo Motorsports founder sees it.
“Working hard is difficult, and I think that when you’re having a good time working hard, that speaks volumes for the atmosphere that you are creating for yourself and that’s what we’ve done at TwoTwo Motorsports,” said Reed. “The bike has been really good and American Honda stepped up and gave me a factory bike now. Overall, I have a great package and a bunch of good people around me that are looking to have fun and win this $1 million prize.”
The unique hybrid track will consist of supercross/motocross terrain and will have a tremendous motocross-style influence, making it unlike any other stadium race in the world. This track will be the perfect blend of supercross and motocross combined and created into the ultimate battleground. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and for the “first time ever” $1 Million will be paid to a rider that wins all three main events.
