Capitalizing on the success of its 955cc Speed Triple, and recognizing the surge in naked bike sales, Triumph unveiled today the Speed Four. The Speed Four is, basically, a naked, re-styled version of its TT600 sport bike, with a re-tuned engine (more torque, less peak horsepower).
The Speed Four is clearly the highest specification naked bike in its class. It retains virtually all of the top-drawer items from its sport bike sibling, including, for instance, brakes, suspension (fully adjustable for pre-load, compression and rebound, front and rear), and wheels (latest, extremely light items).
Playing to its strengths, Triumph is attacking a niche in the market in a manner unlike any of its competitors. If you like the styling of Triumph’s Speed Triple, you will probably like the styling of the Speed Four, with the possible exception of the ram air ducts protruding from the front of the twin-spar aluminum frame. The Speed Four is available in green, orange and black. Both the on-sale date and U.S. MSRP are unknown at this time, but the bike should debut in the U.S. at one of the Cycle World motorcycle shows later this month.
