Ramsey May Be Rider To Watch This Year

As a follow-up to our Supercross prediction article yesterday, we wanted to make a few more comments about Honda’s Nate Ramsey.

Ramsey is a former West Coast 125 supercross champion who struggled with inconsistent results last year, but rose to the occasion to beat both Travis Pastrana and Ernesto Fonseca in the 125 East/West Shootout. Ramsey is the first rider to race a four-stroke in the 250 supercross class after a year aboard a four-stroke in the 125 class.

In other words, Ramsey has already worked his way through the difficult part of the four-stroke learning curve. He could be ready to rail on the big Honda CRF450R from the opener at Anaheim Saturday night.

We did not pick Ramsey to finish in the top five in the series, but he is clearly a rider who could surprise people, and will definitely grab a few holeshots on the factory Honda four-stroke.

By the way, we put our thoughts together for yesterday’s supercross prediction without factoring in Tim Ferry’s recent injury that will prevent him from competing in the first two rounds of the series. Under these circumstances, it will be difficult for him to achieve the third place finish we predicted, but keep your eye on him once he takes to the track.
