McGrath (250) and Roncada (125) Take Pontiac Supercross

In Pontiac, Michigan, Jeremy McGrath (Yamaha) recorded his fifth victory of the season with another holeshot and runaway performance. McGrath was followed home by a surprisingly strong-riding Sebastien Tortelli (Honda) who had overtaken Suzuki’s Damon Huffman just prior to the finish. Huffman finished third.

In the hotly contested 125cc series, Yamaha’s Stephane Roncada took the holeshot and ran away (similar to McGrath’s performance) to a big cushion before winning the main event ahead of Honda’s Brock Sellards, who out-duelled Yamaha’s Ernesto Fonseca for second place. Fonseca finished third over Suzuki’s Travis Pastrana, who finished fourth.

Although there was far less crashing this week, the 125 main was still interesting, with battles for second place (between Sellards and Fonseca) and fourth place (between Pastrana and Wey) keeping the crowd entertained.
