Three-time AMA Superbike champion Doug Chandler put his first laps on his new ride this week – the HMC Ducati superbike. Testing at Laguna Seca, a track on which Chandler is very comfortable and very experienced, Chandler posted the fastest time of all the factory riders in attendance at a multi-day test. With a 1:25.65 lap time on the final day of testing, Chandler eclipsed the time set by Nicky Hayden just yesterday on the factory Honda, and came within 0.28 seconds of the official lap record.
Although Chandler has not tested at the California Raceway in Fontana, something the other factory riders have done, he says he is “very optimistic” about rounds two and three of the AMA Superbike series in Fontana on April 6 and 7.
