Carlos Checa (Ducati) came close to clinching the WSB championship with two rounds remaining when he left Imola with a third place finish in Race 1 and a victory in Race 2.  In Race 1, Jonathan Rea (Honda) took the win ahead of Noriyuki Haga (Aprilia) with Checa third.  In Race 2, Haga followed Checa home in second place, while Leon Camier (Aprilia) finished third.

Checa has a 97 point lead over second place Marco Melandri (Yamaha) in the championship.  For additional details, results and points, visit the official WSB site.
